Why Window Tint? Pt.2
Larger windows on your home can deliver some beautiful views looking out and bring some of the best ambient lighting into a room. Unfortunately, some of those larger panes can come with their own drawbacks, especially here in Florida, that can really take effect on MANY different factors. In this blog, we are going to go over the reasons why window tint can be beneficial on your home for ANY room!
Heat Rejection and energy efficiency:
As you know, light equates to heat here in Florida, and when light enters the home, that means heat is entering as well. When there is constant exposure in certain areas, it can be difficult to keep those areas cooler and more comfortable throughout the day, making your air conditioner work harder to regulate temperatures throughout the house. When you install a quality window film on your home windows, reducing a more than half of the IR, UVa and UVb rays means a lot of that heat is getting cut back as well. This makes rooms more comfortable to be in, reduces load on your AC system, and can save you money in the long run!
Glare Reduction:
One major drawback of having large panes of glass in your home is that they let TOO much light in. While natural light can be a great feature in your home, here in Florida, too much light can become more of a headache than anything. Glare can easily become an issue inside AND outside. When looking out, the sun can reflect off neighbors roofs, fences, water, or even car windows, potentially making it severely uncomfortable for those sensitive to the bright lights!
Another example of where too much light can be a huge hinderance is when it comes in and shines off your floor, or reflecting off the television when you’re trying to watch your favorite show, or coming through the window in your office behind the monitor blinding you while you’re trying to get work done. Not only is all this light making it difficult to see in your own home, but it also makes focusing on what you’re doing so much harder.
Our first instinct in these situations would be to shut the blinds and draw the blackout curtains. Doing that takes away from your views, your comfort, and sometimes your sanity as well. By installing window tint on these problem windows, you can cut down on the excessively bright light coming through the glass, making things more comfortable and easier on the eyes! The amount of light cut you want to cut out is determined by the darkness level of the film you have installed.
Privacy:
Don’t want wandering eyes looking into your home? Another amazing benefit you can get from installing tint on your windows is privacy. Depending on your needs, there are films that range from completely transparent, not changing the appearance of the glass much at all, all the way to reflective, mirror-like finishes, giving you the best privacy you could ask for during the day while still retaining that beautiful view to the outside world!
Security:
Want to increase security for your home? There’s options for that too! Security film is a thicker film that not only can reduce the heat and glare, but because it’s so thick, can also improve the strength of the glass. Unlike your traditional window tint, these security films are bonded to the glass and framework of the window, increasing strength and impact resistance of the glass. Great for preventing intruders (and sometimes nature) from easily entering the home!
Visual Aesthetics:
Clear glass can sometimes be boring… Another benefit of having film on the glass is for decorative purposes; or to just change the look of the glass around the house. Wether it be to black out the windows, white out the windows with a frost film, or add a subtle darkness to your home’s appearance, adding film to the glass is a sure way to alter the appearance that anyone can appreciate!
Adding film to interior glass panes can also help add a bit of extra privacy to an area and drastically alter the look of the room!
